ZombieU, going back to the roots of Survival Horror
The survival horror genre has been taking a back seat lately, with studios going with a more action approach to the Horror genre in gaming. Even a tried and true franchise in the genre like Resident Evil changed the tone and feel of the game to play a lot more like a COD title. Probably due to the fact that the FPS genre is what sells consoles these days and the fact that companies in the end ,would rather make more money than good products ,Survival horror has all but been eradicated.
Luckily the dudes over at Ubisoft Montpellier,think that the genre needs a good revival…see what i did there. Using the WiiU’s game pad more like a survival kit and less like a controller the game gets a very interactive style of game play that adds to the tension and horror of it all. In ZombiU ,you are encouraged to use your thinking and problem solving skills instead of the run and gun method. In addition, when a member of your party dies,he stays dead for the rest of the game…until he gets a hankering for some of your grey matter. Which leaves you with the decision of getting the supplies back from your fallen comrade or hitting the bricks. Expect bludgeon the undead Christmas of this year on the WiiU.
