My all time favorite movies
We all have those movies that no matter how many times we watch them we still enjoy seeing them. Whether it’s because it’s the greatest movie we’ve ever seen or they simply make us laugh or they are part of our childhood these movies are part of our memories. The movies I have selected are: Jurassic Park, Oldboy, Terminator 2 Judgment Day, Aliens and Neon Genesis Evangelion: End of Evangelion. They are in no particular order the reason being is, I enjoy these movies equally but for different reasons of course. Some I enjoy for the complexity of the story, the pure action of it and some made a lasting impression on my childhood.
One of my first theater experiences was Jurassic park. I remember just being excited knowing that I was going to see this movie. The movie had everything from a cool story, some action and dinosaurs like my favorite the Velociraptor. One of my favorite scenes is when Dr. Grant tries to rescue the kids from the overturned jeep and suddenly is confronted by the T-Rex. Ultimately the biggest reason I love this movie is simply the dinosaurs they were just awesome.
Oldboy is just one of those movies that intrigued me to from beginning to end. It was such an awesome revenge story that left me speechless. It’s also the only movie on my list that I don’t have a hard copy of because I let someone borrow it and they never returned it but anyways back to why I like it. One of my favorite scenes from the movie is the hallway fight scene. You have one man armed with just a hammer try to fight his way to the other side of the hallway against 20 guys armed with bats, knives and plywood. The main reason I enjoy this movie is watching this incredible revenge story come together.
Schwarzenegger has had many roles but this is my favorite. Terminator 2 had cool car chases, lots of action and Schwarzenegger kicking ass throughout the entire movie. Not to mention the story was pretty cool too, machines taking over the not so far distant future, time travel and humanities last hope of survival was a boy named John Connor. Not to mention Arnold had some cool one liners like “Asta la vista baby” and “I’ll be back”. I just liked this movie because it was pure awesomeness.
Aliens is one of those movies that I love to watch just for the sheer amount of action it had. Another big reason I enjoy this movie was the character Ripley; it was nice to see her develop from to this total badass character by the end of the movie as she goes up against the Queen. One of the biggest reasons why I like this movie and the franchise so much is that I always thought the Aliens were such awesome creatures and still think so.
Finally the last movie on my list is Neon Genesis Evangelion: End Of Evangelion it was a stunning conclusion to one of the best anime series of all time. I don’t think I will ever fully understand the complexity of this movie and that’s part of the appeal for me. I also enjoyed the art, the stunning animation, the incredible voice acting and just how action packed this movie was.
