The craziest, most violent, hallucinogen laced cartoon ever made is set to hit the small screen once again to the delight of myself, and legions of fans.
SUPERJAIL! is simply put….a trip. Centering (mostly) in the eponymous jail, placed in the crater of a volcano within an even bigger volcano, the show revolves around the inmates and staff of SUPERJAIL!. At the beginning of (almost) every episode the Jailbot (kind of a floating sadistic Ipod with a face and various tortuous devices) is shown capturing the escaped prisoner Jackknife with massive amounts of violence and bloodshed, leading to Jackknife being carried back to the prison during the title sequence. After that The Warden (basically a demented Willy Wonka on acid) is usually shown in his office discussing his plans for “improvement” of the jail with the staff Alice the transgender head guard and Jared the accountant. When whatever plan goes into effect the jail breaks out into an inexplicable psychedelic war zone with monsters, brutal murders, blood galore, and an ever warping reality. But no one really dies. They are always seen alive and well in the next episode ready to be killed again.
Whether SUPERJAIL! sounds like your type of show or not , you should definitely give it a try. The absolute psychotic violent nature will confound you. The non-linear/non-sequitur comedy stylings will crack you up. And the psychedelia will BLOW YOUR MIND. Tune in. Turn on. Drop out. September 30th. Mark the date.
