Fall is officially here and the wonderful holiday flavors are piling up in our groceries and local markets. To my delight I found a delectable treat that didn’t cost me an arm, a leg and a tremendous amount of calories.  What amazing culinary treat did I find in a local Target? Pumpkin pie yogurt!  Believe me friends! It is real and it is delicious!

Yoplait has graced our palettes with another delicious flavor that was usually the dieter’s bane around the Holidays.  Sold in 4 six ounce cups for  around two to three dollars, this bold new flavor allows you to have the guilty pleasure of a pumpkin pie for ninety (yes… 90) calories).  Unfortunately it is seasonal so it’s only around for a limited time. It is sold in local convenience stores, grocery stores and big box retailers such as Target and Wal-Mart.

The yogurt itself, is a pastel orange color with a creamy consistency.  I stuck this bad boy into the freezer for about an hour or two to make it like frozen custard.  Sure enough when I devoured this creamy pumpkin treat it was like eating a creamy pumpkin pie laced with the yogurt taste.  Mind you there is a strong yogurt flavor.  They can’t hide everything so if you don’t like the tartness of a yogurt, don’t get it.  Otherwise I tasted the prominent pumpkin laced with cinnamon and it was wonderful.  Since it was only ninety calories I had another!  For all you weight watchers members it is 2 points plus on the daily allotted amount and low in sugar. Try using this yogurt in a panna cotta! It’s delicious

So if you are looking for a sweet treat to save room for the real calorie busters, try the Yoplait pumpkin pie yogurt.  Also try it frozen.  You will be pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming flavors!
