Roof Top Comedy show : Gam3r Con brings it
This hide away above downtown streets Provides the perfect setting for an alternative look at the nerd culture. A safe perch for four comedians that are self proclaimed nerds,of various Niche sub-genre of nerds. The MC Eliza Jane Schneider is a famous voice actress known for her work n South park and Assassin’s Creed is a drama nerd that should off her set of pipes with various characters like turrets opera singer and anti-Christ Sarah Palin, she introduce the comedians famously ,got the crowd involved and was a balls out comedian bringing constant laughs whenever she grace d the stage with her presence. Ron Swallow was up next, previously on MAD tv ,he of course paused for the obligatory laugh at his name,he was the most interesting of the comedians because he not only provided laughs but also presented some good arguments that plague the conversations that true nerds have like how Hollywood always strays from the source material and why people don’t like Superman as a hero due to his God-like presence, it felt  like a hilarious conversation with an old friend and he spoke very natural like the stage was no factor at all. AJ Salas (fuck it!) was introduced to the stage ,he delivered some  funny stories about his own experience as a gamer and observations of where this nerd culture is going and how it has become cool in the past few years. Andre “black Nerd” Meadows headlined, he was the dirtiest of the comedians by far and delivered those “should we be laughing” kind of jokes that i love, this man had a decent st of pipes too, delivering a few classic cartoon themes as he exited the stage for the night, definitely check him out on youtube, black nerd comedy is his name.
The most memorable part of the night was definitely the atmosphere,  the backdrop of the downtown skyline, the warm intimacy of every one huddled together on a small roof top listening to few good comedians that felt like old friends, all the red tape and “big Hollywood star” feeling,  a distant  glow in the cloudy night sky above the convention center . Here was a safe place in the sky, safe from the hustle and bustle ,pretentious hipster nerds jumping on the band wagon , the over whelming fake feeling that permeates from a few blocks down the street , the suites in charge of showing of there brand shamelessly and not to mention, safe from all the Twilight fans. Here we sit next to performers literally rubbing elbows and exchanging looks  that say”yeah, i got that obscure cartoon reference  too.”, a real welcoming environment in a downtown that is riddled with exclusivity and special guest lists.
