Today Microsoft announced their new line of tablets that would be in direct competition with the Apple Ipad products.   The “Surface” had 2 models; one running on Windows RT and the other on the Windows 8 platform.  Both tablets were thin, light and had a 10.6 inch display, 16:9 widescreen with either a 720 or 1080p resolution depending on which model you choose.   Both models come with Microsoft Office and Gorilla Glass that will protect your device from nasty screen fractures. other features include a full size USB port, SDHC card reader and a magnetic stylus.

And what’s the big deal about the Surface?  Why it’s the keyboard that is a part of the tablet.

The touch cover is part of the tablet, which comes in 2 thicknesses.  The touch keyboard will connect through bluetooth and have a battery in it (gotta love power consumption). Supposedly the cover will have an accelerometer so it will know when it is being used as a keyboard.
