Metal Gear Ground Zeroes: the BEASTLY Fox Engine

The biggest news (at least to me) coming out of PAX 2012 was the jaw dropping graphics that are being produced by the brand, spanking, new Fox Engine developed by Hideo Kojima.  The engine was used to develop the latest  installment in the Metal Gear Solid series: Ground Zeroes.  The engine shows off some very impressive use of light and shadows.  The attention to detail in a vast natural environment will give any graphics hound a big rubbery one.  (Mind you, I am generally a retro gamer, so graphics mean little to nothing to me)  This impressive 10 minute + preview left a noticeable impression on me.  Apparently, the Fox Engine is able to work on both current and next-gen consoles. (Fingers crossed for a WiiU game the touch pad would bring an added subversive feel to the Kodak menu) This has been confirmed as a multi-platform game , so here’s hoping this Nintendo fan boy gets his wish.

Okay! Enough with the graphics. Let’s talk about the “kick-assness” which is the true reason this franchise remains a classic.  Hideo-san has posed a few questions.  Who the f*$& is that extra crispy general dude? Volgin maybe?  Some other thought to be deceased enemy?  Probably.  What’s up with the kid with an Ipod for a chest cavity?  My guess is (a total shot in the dark here) …kid Raiden?  They reference his “Boss” after all.   I can’t wait for this game to make its way into my chubby little paws.
