John Legend to join “Duets”
The Voice has been racking a substantial amount of people to ABC since its creation. The idea of having amateurs enter a singing competition and attempt to satisfy critics (be that the audience or a panel of judges) is not a new concept for us. In the U.S. singing competitions became very relevant from the emergence of an iconic show on FOX by the name of American Idol.
Certainly the success of these shows has not been enough to the networks who house them, that’s why ABC has a new show that will supply the demand. Duets will bring together contestants and pair them up with singing superstars; think of Dancing With The Stars meets The Voice. The star mentors will tour the country and audition thousands of potential canditates to perform in duets with them for the show’s run. The contestants will compete with the hopes of winning a contract with Hollywood Records as part of the Grand Prize.
John Legend has been signed to be one of the star mentors for the reality show. His signing is due to Lionel Richie’s inability to fulfill his contract due to scheduling issues. The rest of the celebrity cast includes Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, and Robin Thicke.
