The XBRL Challenge is a contest to build the best open source analytical application that consumes XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) data from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR system. Over 8,800 public companies now report their financial statements in XBRL format and the Challenge offers developers, technologists and academics the opportunity to gain valuable technical knowledge that can help their business, and get visibility for themselves and their tool and a chance to win a $20,000 Grand Prize.
