Arnie Numero Uno Picks From the Panda
The release of The Expendables II has inspired me to write about Arnold. I have brought it upon myself to assign you dudes a required viewing list . This particular list of flicks centers around my favorite actor in the movie Arnold Scharz- Swers….ummm, the Governator. I am sooooo stoked that they added him to the roster and not just a short cameo,nice to see the elderly getting work these days. For me Arnie stood above the rest of the action stars of the era, not for his physical …..bulk on the screen,but for the always funny one line-ers and his simple and harsh sense of humor both on and off-screen. This is a list of three movies that ,deserved a little more attention . Over shadowed by huge block buster movies like Terminator 2, True Lies and Predator,although these are excellent in their own right ,the following have that extra Governator flare that is unmistakably his own and can only come once in a life time,the true definition of an icon.
Pumping Iron
Arguably the reason the world knows Arnold by first name alone. This movie is a documentary following his road to winning his 6th Mr. Universe title ,showing his motivation and drive that got him to his place of power in the US. Raised in a small European village ,a young Arnold knows that he is destined for more and strives to do so. An inspiring movie that gives you a peek into this icons psyche. Also, check it out for a young Lou Ferrigno getting trained by his father.
Commando
Pound for pound the most action packed ,one lined ,bad ass movie that ever had Arnie in the lead role. When he isn’t delivering horribly funny banter or one liners ,there is someone getting shot,beat up blown up,dismembered or an over all wreckage of OPP(thats “other people’s property” for my urban challenged readers). This is my favorite Schwarzenegger movie by far and it cracks my top five movies over all. It seems Expendables is taking most of its over the top action cues from this title . The in your face ,blunt/harsh delivery of explosion,bullets and humor truely leaves you wondering if the Governator wrote the script himself on his favorite Harley with a Cigar in teeth,belly full of scotch and beef jerky and a handful of grade A titties.
Raw Deal
Another bad ass,one liner laced flick. This time around he is a defunct FBI agent infiltrating the mob so he can get his stripes back. They gave him a RAW DEAL….HE AINT GONE TAKE THAT ISH,madness ,explosions and death to follow. Expect the usual Schwarzenegger affair, with a lot more talking from Arnie than expected. But this is fine because the script was handled by Luciano Vincenzoni an action/revenge flick master known for classics like The Good,The Bad and The Ugly and Duck You Sucker.
